Brussels: The share of renewable energy in the EU
In a statement today, (15th July 2004) the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) supported the overall conclusions of a European Commission Communication on the share of renewable energies in the European Union. The Communication reveals the Commission?s determination to continue global technological and institutional leadership and the global development towards a cleaner and more secure energy supply based on increased use of renewable energy sources.

China: World Bank To Help Scale Up Use Of Renewable Energy
BEIJING, June 17, 2005 -- Yesterday the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors approved a loan of US$87 million loan, to the People’s Republic of China, for the financing of the Renewable Energy Scale-up Program, supplemented by a grant of US$40.22 million from the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The project’s objective is to expand renewable electricity supply in China efficiently, cost effectively and on a large scale.
